HISTORY OF POLAR BEAR ICE
A Legacy of Quality and Service Since 1994
- 19941994
Founding of Polar Bear Ice
Polar Bear Ice started in a modest garage just outside downtown Vancouver, with one ice machine, hand-bagged ice, and a freezer built from drywall and lumber. Deliveries were made using a pickup truck, marking the beginning of our dedication to quality and exceptional service. - 19951995
First Expansion
We expanded to a 3,500 sq. ft. warehouse on Triumph Street in Vancouver, ramping up production to 3 tons of ice per day. A 1,000 sq. ft. freezer was added, and we began producing ice blocks to meet the growing demand. - 20032003
Growing Capacity
We moved to a 5,000 sq. ft. facility on East Georgia Street, expanding our production capabilities. The additional space allowed for more ice block machines and a larger freezer, all while keeping us in a prime location to efficiently serve Greater Vancouver and the North Shore. - 20172017
Modernization & Growth
We took a major step forward by purchasing a 9,000 sq. ft. industrial building, increasing our capacity to over 30 tons of ice per day. The new facility included a 1,500 sq. ft. freezer, a robotic palletizing arm for automation, and a modern fleet of delivery vehicles. This growth allowed us to serve large wholesale clients while continuing to provide the same reliable, personalized service to the local businesses that helped build our foundation. - 20192019
Responding to New Challenges
Amid global challenges, Polar Bear Ice adapted to new market needs, ensuring uninterrupted ice supply to essential industries, from food services to medical needs. - 20252025

Polar Bear Ice continues to innovate and expand its service offerings, focusing on sustainability and technology to meet future demand and ensure long-term quality.
